The purposes, legal bases, and retention periods for the processing of personal data are specified separately for each processing purpose (see the descriptions of individual processing purposes below).

Rights of Data Subjects

The GDPR grants you the following potential rights related to the processing of your personal data:

  • the right to access personal data,

  • the right to rectify personal data,

  • the right to erase personal data,

  • the right to restrict the processing of personal data,

  • the right to object to the processing of personal data,

  • the right to data portability,

  • the right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority,

  • the right to withdraw consent to the processing of personal data, if such consent has been given.

The rules governing the exercise of these rights are described in detail in Articles 16–21 of the GDPR. You are encouraged to familiarize yourself with these provisions.

Please note that the rights listed above are not absolute and will not apply to all processing activities concerning your personal data. For your convenience, efforts have been made to indicate which rights apply within the descriptions of individual data processing operations.

One right always applies: if you believe that your personal data has been processed in violation of data protection regulations, you have the right to lodge a complaint with the supervisory authority (the President of the Personal Data Protection Office).

You may also contact me at any time to request information about what personal data I hold about you and for what purposes it is processed. To do so, please contact me at hello [at] freedomplan.uk. Your data may be processed by my subcontractors, i.e. entities whose services I use for data processing, service provision, or order fulfillment.

All entities entrusted with the processing of personal data guarantee the application of appropriate data protection and security measures as required by law.

Purposes and Processing Activities

Newsletter

If you wish to subscribe to the newsletter, you must provide your email address and name via the newsletter subscription form. Providing data is voluntary but necessary to subscribe to the newsletter.

The data provided when subscribing to the newsletter is processed for the purpose of sending the newsletter. The legal basis for processing is your consent (Article 6(1)(a) GDPR) given when subscribing.

The data will be processed for the duration of the newsletter’s operation unless you unsubscribe earlier, which will result in the deletion of your data from the database.

You may at any time correct your data stored in the newsletter database or request its deletion by unsubscribing. You also have the right to data portability pursuant to Article 20 GDPR.

Contact

When you contact me via email, including by submitting an inquiry through the contact form, you naturally provide your email address as the sender’s address. You may also include other personal data in the content of the message. Providing data is voluntary but necessary to establish contact.

In this case, your data is processed for the purpose of contacting you. The legal basis for processing is Article 6(1)(a) GDPR, i.e. your consent resulting from initiating contact.

After the contact has ended, the legal basis for further processing is a legitimate interest in the form of archiving correspondence for internal purposes (Article 6(1)(c) GDPR).

The content of correspondence may be archived, and it is not always possible to determine precisely when it will be deleted. You have the right to request access to the correspondence history conducted with me (if archived) and to request its deletion, unless archiving is justified by overriding interests, such as defense against potential claims.

Comments

If you wish to add a comment on the blog, you must complete the form and provide your email address and name. Providing data is voluntary but necessary to publish a comment.

The commenting system is operated by Disqus Inc., 301 Howard Street, Suite 300, San Francisco, CA 94105, USA. Disqus acts as an independent controller of your personal data, and the use of the system is based on your acceptance of Disqus’ terms of service.

The data provided when adding a comment is processed for the purpose of publishing the comment on the blog. The legal basis for processing is your consent (Article 6(1)(a) GDPR) resulting from submitting the comment.

The data will be processed for as long as comments remain available on the blog, unless you request the deletion of a comment earlier, which will result in the deletion of your data from the database.

You may at any time correct or delete your data associated with a comment. You also have the right to data portability pursuant to Article 20 GDPR. These rights may be exercised directly through your Disqus user account.

Third-party Cookies

Google Analytics

I use Google Analytics provided by Google LLC, 1600 Amphitheatre Parkway, Mountain View, CA 94043, USA. Processing is based on my legitimate interest in creating statistics and analyzing them to optimize the website.

Google Analytics automatically collects information about your use of the website. The collected data is usually transferred to Google servers in the United States and stored there.

Due to enabled IP anonymization, your IP address is shortened before being transmitted. Only in exceptional cases is the full IP address transmitted to a Google server in the United States and shortened there.

The anonymized IP address transmitted by your browser as part of Google Analytics is not combined with other Google data.

As Google LLC is based in the United States and uses technical infrastructure located there, it has joined the EU–US Privacy Shield framework to ensure an adequate level of data protection in accordance with European regulations.

When you view the website containing such plugins, your browser establishes a direct connection with the servers of the social media providers. The content of the plugin is transmitted directly to your browser and integrated into the website.

This allows providers to receive information that your browser has displayed the website, even if you do not have an account or are not logged in.

If you are logged into a social media platform, the provider may associate your visit with your profile. If you interact with a plugin (e.g. clicking “Like” or “Share”), the relevant information is also transmitted to the provider’s server.

Details regarding data collection and processing are described in the privacy policies of the respective providers:

Using the website involves sending requests to the server on which the website is hosted. Each request is recorded in server logs.
